Shhh… it’s a secret!

Updated: Nov 21, 2019

Not just for weddings, Woodborough Hall in Nottinghamshire has had a colourful 400 years of History and kept its fair share of secrets.

Our biggest secret was that the hall was used by Mansfield Cumming, the original M who founded our secret service and the favoured nephew of Mansfield Parkyns then owner of Woodborough Hall. Quite a character he signed all correspondence with just the one letter and always in green ink.

Parkyns a former admiral after whom Mansfield was named, let his nephew use the hall with its secluded grandeur to set up the what is now the secret service, with secret meetings with politicians and military leaders held at the Hall prior to their offices being provided for them in Whitehall.

We are delighted that in keeping with our link to the secret service you can experience what it feels like to be Bond even if just for a day at an event or meeting or over a sumptuous afternoon tea, in the same Amsterdam lounge chair used by Daniel Craig in his flat at 1 Stanley Gardens in the bond film Spectre.

Look out for it in our bar, with views across the lawn, it provides a moment to unwind and savour much of what we offer including the Macallan 18 he enjoys after his near death experience!

Don’t be fooled by the age of the hall if you are looking for an events venue, if you have a meeting, clandestine or otherwise, we offer a thoroughly modern facility from 2 to 120 delegates, and we should mention our bomb shelter in the gardens is also available on request. And if you needed a reminder of its meeting history, just take a peek at the original military barrier as you drive in before making use of our free Parking and Free wi-fi.

½ day and full day delegate rates available with meals and coffee breaks as needed, so why not give your team something to talk about.
